Ukranenland

An outstanding open-air museum village in Vorpommern. Reconstructions of block, log and wattle houses from the 9th and 10th centuries built to the original dimensions. Historical handcrafts such as bronze casting, pottery and forging are demonstrated.

Castrum Turglowe
|
This open air museum exhibits living conditions and practices from medieval times. The origin of the project were instigated by the castle ruins in the centre of Torgelow.

Ueckermünde
|
A harbour town with timber framed and gabled buildings in the old town centre, a harbour and a lagoon museum with exhibits from the towns history and a 27 m high castle tower from where there is an excellent view of the town, the lagoon and the island of Usedom.

Ueckermünde Zoo
|
The only zoo to be found around the Szczecin Lagoon with large and natural open compounds, there are also guided tours and shows at feeding time.

Excursion to the Jatznick Seed oast (approx 5 km from Torgelow)

A technological monument. The only oast in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern exhibiting the production of seeds for forestry.

Excursion to Heinrichsruh Manor (approx 5 km from Torgelow)

Created in 1750 - 1752 by Christoph Ludwig Henrich as his retirement retreat, it has a lovely garden complex with a French flair.
This Baroque country home has been preserved unchanged. Today the Vorpommern Art lodge resides here and organises various exhibitions and performances.

Excursion to the botanical gardens at Christiansberg (approx 6 km from Torgelow)

A green paradise that has been tastefully developed on a parkland area of about 13.000 square meters. Many rare plants, trees and shrubbery are creatively arranged.
